Land Use in the Northeast US:

Ten Things Members of Every Rural
Community Need to Know About Land Use...

No other region of the country faces greater pressure on its land base than the Northeast US. The region has 22% of the population, but only 6.7% of the land area. In this wealthy region, the population is spreading out from the cities at a faster rate than is true in any of the other US regions. This is evident from the fact that more land is converted for every additional new resident of the region than is true elsewhere in the nation (The Northeast Regional Center for Rural Development).
