Description: The Water Quality team at the University of Maine Cooperative Extension (UMCE) provides information to the public on protecting Maine's water resources. We focus on lake and watershed issues, and work with agricultural producers to implement best management practices (BMPs) on their farms. Through applied research we provide growers with information on efficient nutrient and weed management practices.

Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment

Description: The Gulf of Maine Council on the Marine Environment is a U.S.-Canadian partnership of government and non-government organizations working to maintain and enhance environmental quality in the Gulf of Maine to allow for sustainable resource use by existing and future generations. We organize conferences and workshops; offer grants and recognition awards; conduct environmental monitoring; provide science translation to management; raise public awareness about the Gulf; and connect people, organizations, and information.

New England Transportation Consortium
New England Transportation Consortium, http://www.netc.uconn.edu/ti/Research/index.htm

Description: The NETC was formed as a regional approach to developing innovative solutions to common transportation problems among the New England states. Its purpose is to pool the financial, professional and academic resources of the region and to use them to research and develop improved methods of dealing with common problems in the planning, design, construction, maintenance, rehabilitation, reconstruction and operation of transportation systems in the participating states. The program is intended to supplement, not to replace, ongoing state and federal research activities and other national programs such as NCHRP.
