Affordable Housing Corporation

Description: The New York State Affordable Housing Corporation ("Corporation"), a subsidiary of the New York State Housing Finance Agency, pursuant to Section 1113(1) of the Private Housing Finance Law, was established to administer the Affordable Home Ownership Development Program ("Program"). The purpose of the Program is to promote home ownership by persons of low and moderate income, which, in turn, fosters development, stabilization, and preservation of neighborhoods and communities. To achieve these goals, the Corporation provides financial assistance, in conjunction with other private and public investment, for the construction, acquisition, rehabilitation, and improvement of owner-occupied housing.

Division of Housing and Community Renewal

Description: Community Development staff serve as staff to the Low-Income Housing Trust Fund Corporation - a public benefit corporation that provides State-funded loans and grants to both for-profit and not-for-profit entities to develop housing for low-income families, tenants with special needs and the low-income elderly. Community Development staff also administer the State's Neighborhood and Rural Preservation programs, which provide administrative funding to local non-for-profit organizations that carry out housing preservation and development activities within their communities. Additionally, Community Development administers the allocation of Federal low-income housing tax credits across the State
