The Gap Analysis program brings together the problem-solving capabilities
of federal, state, and private scientists to tackle the difficult issues
of land cover mapping, vertebrate habitat characterization, assessment,
and biodiversity conservation at the state, regional, and national levels.

Interstate
Commission on the Potomac River Basin
Description:
The Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin (ICPRB) is an interstate
compact commission established by Congress in 1940 to help the Potomac
basin states and the federal government to enhance, protect, and conserve
the water and associated land resources of the Potomac River basin through

Ohio
River Basin Commission
Description:
The Ohio River Basin Commission's purposes are to: provide a forum for
the Ohio River Basin States to study, discuss, and develop regional policies
and positions on common interstate issues concerning water and related
land resources; coordinate water and related land resources planning in
the Ohio River Basin; provide representation of the regional interests
of the Basin before the Congress and federal agencies responsible for
the planning, development, and management of water and related land resources
in the Basin; and investigate, study, and review water-related problems

Ohio
River Valley Water Sanitation Commission
Description:
Since 1948, ORSANCO and its member states have cooperated to improve water
quality in the Ohio River Basin so that the river and its tributaries
can be used for drinking water, industrial supplies, and recreational
purposes; and can support a healthy and diverse aquatic community. ORSANCO
operates monitoring programs to check for pollutants and toxins that may
interfere with specific uses of the river, and conducts special studies

Potomac
Watershed Partnership
Description:
The Potomac Watershed Partnership is a large-scale restoration and stewardship
project focused on the Potomac River watershed. Its mission is to create
a collaborative effort among federal, state, and local partners to restore
the health of the land and waters of the Potomac River Basin. This will
enhance the quality of life and overall health of the Chesapeake Bay,
